Kopi Luwak
Kopi Luwak has made itself known to be the most expensive, most delicious, and most sought after coffee in the whole world. Kopi Luwak coffee beans are not picked from the coffee plant however, but from the feces of a raccoon-like animal called an Asian Palm Civet in Indonesia and the Philippines. These civets consume coffee berries, but the beans remain undigested and pass through the civet's digestive tract. Once a predictable spot of defecation is observed, coffee collectors extract the beans from the excrement, heavily wash, purify, and sun dry them. Kopi Luwak is sold for as much as $160 dollars per pound-and is said to be worth it, because of its rich, chocolaty, musty, exotic, and syrupy flavor and body.
