defective item Jul 28, 2010 Received a defective item....how can this happen? Isn't there a quality control inspection before it is even packaged?! For the price that it is being offered, I think there should! Luckily i bought this through Amazon. The return process is so much easier than any other company. Returned this and ordered another....hopefully I get a unit that works this time.

More than a plain old coffee maker!! Jul 27, 2010 If you're like me and want more than a plain cup of coffee occasionally, this is the machine for you. I especially like a good latte or cappucino several times a week and this convenient countertop brewer doesn't disappoint. Thanks to the good variety of latte, cappucino, hot tea, hot chocolate, espresso, and regular coffee T-disc available out there, you can always find something to treat yourself to.
Been using the Bosch Tassimo single-serve brewer for four weeks now with no problems at all. My favorite features are the ability to adjust the strength of the brew as it is brewing, the replaceable water filter, and the ability to use almost any cup size under the brewing nozzle.
I would highly recommend this product to anyone wanting more than just a traditional coffee maker.

Tassimo vs. Keurig Jul 11, 2010 I've had this machine for a while now, and I love it. I have the Tassimo at home, but at work I use a Keurig so I thought I'd write up a review comparing the two of them. I prefer the Tassimo machine by quite a bit.
Tassimo pros and cons:
++++ the ability to make lattes, cappuccinos, macchiatos, espresso, etc. (this is the selling point for me.)
+ vastly superior hot chocolate
+ barcode technology allows for smarter brews
- lack of in-store availability
- poor customer service
- hard to find t-discs in stores
Keurig pros and cons:
+ widespread availabilities of k-cups in stores
+ variety of coffee flavors
+ superior customer service
- inferior coffee quality. Vast majority of brews are thin and watery.
- limited drink variety (no lattes, etc)
In my opinion, despite the widespread availability of k-cups and the huge variety of brews available, Keurig is just a well-run company that makes an okay machine. It brews convenience store quality coffee and it does it very quickly. Their customer service and marketing departments are clearly doing a MUCH better job than Tassimo promoting the machine and providing support to consumers following their purchase. I see k-cups in stores everywhere now. I even saw some at Staples the other day! The Keurig also makes decent teas, but I find their hot chocolates undrinkable. For me, real milk is a total necessity for a rich and creamy hot chocolate.
Tassimo on the other hand is a poorly run division of Kraft foods that has a really awesome little machine. For the price, the quality of beverages this thing can produce is really pretty awesome. The lattes, capps and espressos aren't what you would be served in an Italian cafe, but are they as good as if you went to your average starbucks down the street? Sure! And the machine does a better job of making a good cup of coffee. Rather than basically just dripping some hot water through the grinds like the Keurig, the Tassimo machine uses more pressure to push the water through resulting in brews that are richer and more flavorful. The best coffees on the Keurig are comprable to the low-end coffee from the Tassimo, and the best coffees on the Tassimo are as good as what you'd get using fresh ground beans with a drip coffee maker. The t-discs on average cost about the same as the Keurig k-cups for just plain coffee and obviously a little more expensive than a keurig cup for lattes and capps. For a latte or capp you can be looking at up to about a dollar a cup, but it's still a substantial savings over going to a coffee shop daily as I had been doing. The discs that you use to make frothed milk with is real milk and it tastes like real milk. Personally I don't mind just ordering online, but the t-discs can be hard to find in stores (though this varies by region).
Despite the poor management of Tassimo by Kraft, I don't think customers need to be worried about the business going under and not being able to buy t-discs anywhere anymore. Although the Keurig seems to be the more popular machine in America, Tassimo has about 90% market share in Canada and is very popular in Europe. Even as t-discs are harder to find in American stores, online selection is growing as many once Europe-only discs are available for shipment stateside.

Tassimo is nice, but we like the Keurig better. Jul 09, 2010 We bought this Tassimo and the Keurig B70 at the same time and tried them both for a couple weeks. In the end, the Keurig won.
We liked the idea of the Tassimo customizing the water temperature and even having the ability to foam the milk cartridges, but my wife found that the milk wasn't heated enough on the beverages that require it. Adding water to make a larger cup seemed like an easy thing for me to do when making a travel mug for my morning commute, but I found that the coffee just ended up tasting watered down. The Tassimo is noisier than the Keurig, but that's something most people can probably live with. The worst part about the Tassimo was actually that it splatters water all over the place, and (as other reviewers have noted) it takes FOREVER to stop dripping after it brews a cup of coffee.
The Keurig doesn't offer the ability to handle milk, but we like the K-Cups better. I LOVE that there are "travel mug" size K-Cups that have more coffee grounds in them so that making a large mug or a travel mug doesn't result in watered down coffee. My wife enjoys the different coffee flavors, but what she REALLY LOVES is that the Keurig doesn't splatter the counter with coffee. We both appreciate that the Keurig drips maybe once or twice after brewing a cup. That's it! It just works. We also found that the Keurig's water tank is easier to refill and replace since it is accessed from the front of the machine. Oh! We also love the Keurig's timer feature. When I come downstairs in the morning it's already on and ready for me to brew my coffee before heading out the door for work.
If I hadn't bought both machines at the same time to compare, we probably would have just learned to live with the Tassimo's flaws. In the end, though, the Keurig won us over, and my wife has commented a few times since that she's really glad we returned the Tassimo and stuck with the Keurig. We use Cafe Express to get our favorite K-Cups delivered every 10 weeks, too.
If My Wife Is Happy-- I Am Flabbergasted!! Jul 01, 2010 My wife has always wanted a one cupper for the house, especially since she often makes a pot of coffee in the morning and then half of it goes to waste. Now she only makes a pot if we're both around and knows that she can have a hot cup of her favorite StarBucks whenever she wants or needs one. Considering how much coffee we used to waste and how superior in taste this is to regular ground coffee, this has turned out to be a good match for us.
The instructions provided were a bit long but the machine is easy to set up and a snap to use. You can adjust each cup to the strength you personally desire, either stronger or weaker, and it only takes about a minute to brew a cup. Some users have complained about the high cost of the T-Discs but I have been able to Google up a special price for StarBucks three times in the past sixty days. My target price is to pay sixty cents per cup and I have always found that price somewhere. Sometimes I can find what I'm looking for at Tassimo Direct, sometimes at specialty coffee websites, and once a forum I read pointed to a great sale.
This is a great buy, especially with free shipping and a [...] rebate.
